LONG Overdue IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Palette Review

I’ve had this palette for MONTHS and I’m obviously slacking, because I’m just now blabbing about it. Which is a shame because I LUURVE this palette.

Firstly, it is all matte, no shimmers which is a really nice change. I don’t need to glitter ALL the time, and this is perfect for daytime looks.

Let me talk about the packaging which is awesome. It’s almost a faux soft leather, and has a magnetic closure which is great. It’s puffy as well, and feels essspensive.

Now for the shades:

There are some gorgeous pinks and purples, some on the pastel side, but buildable. They’re all beautifully blendable as well, and not a lot of fallout.

Now, swatches:

That’s the top row, the colors are from L to R: Sheer Koy, Soft Light, Warmth, Soulful, Mocha, Violet, Midnight, and Noir.

Now, the bottom row:

Again from L to R: Love, Sunrise, Sunset, All Heart, Java, Iconic, and Transforming Pearl (a great brow bone highlight).

This palette retails for 42$ and if you’re looking for a great matte palette that can give you subdued pastel or dramatic smokey looks, this is It. Ha-get it? See what I did?

Too Faced Peaches & Cream Collection

It’s heeeeere.

The Too Faced Peaches and Cream Collection has dropped, and I’m drooling.

The collection consists of foundation, an eyeshadow palette, primer, bronzer, blush, highlighter, matte lipsticks, setting powder, and setting spray-all infused with peach and sweet fig cream. I know a lot of people have peach exhaustion, and I get it. But, my Too Faced Sweet Peach palette is one of my favorites, and I’d love to see if they pulled this off.

The eyeshadow palette is all mattes:

The collection has a bronzer that looks like a latticed pie, and I’ve heard good things about it. The blush, bronzer, and highlight not so much.

I absolutely want the foundation though. It smells like peach 🍑

Now, I absolutely agree that Too Faced has over saturated the market with subpar palettes lately, so I hope this sort of redeems them. This collection is sold exclusively at Sephora and on TooFaced.com. Which is good for me, because I’m hoping the fam gives me sephora gift cards for the old birthday on Friday. 🤞

Thoughts?

Drugstore Foundation Finds

I’ve been wanting to try the Wet n Wild Photo Focus foundation for a while now, while shopping at Walmart last week and dragging hubs to the makeup department, my wish came true.

It broke the bank at 3.92$ for 1 oz-ha. I was NOT disappointed.

It has a spatula-like applicator which I’ve never ever seen before, it’s not any more helpful than no applicator, but whatever.

It comes in a ton of shades-I’m pale AF with Nude Ivory. It ended up being a perfect match. It’s medium to full coverage, it did not oxidize at ALL on me, and stayed really well for the 6-8 hours at a time I’ve worn it.

The consistency is pretty thin and drippy though, but that doesn’t translate to its performance. I highly highly recommend it-for a drugstore foundation under 4$? I would say it’s on par with my 40$ coverFX foundation.

I was in Stop & Shop last night after dinner with a friend and holy sales-first? A gallon of whole milk for 99 cents. 99 CENTS. I bought 3.

Then this-

It’s normally 15.99$ but guys- 3.62$!!!!!!! I get it’s discontinued and if I love it, uh-oh, but whatevs. 3.62$.

I got the shade Bare Buff, it looked fine on my wrist, so hopefully it works. I’ll let you know 😁

Also an update on the Briogeo Hair Mask from my Boxycharm box……

Meh. It wasn’t the worst I’ve ever tried, my hair felt just ok, maybe a teeny bit softer than regular conditioner. I’ve yet to find anything that beats the Tresemmè Instant Recovery Hair Mask. Still my HG.

That’s all for now..

September Ipsy Glam Bag Review!!

Well, Lovelies-Ipsy is really really upping their game and becoming a subscription to be reckoned with. When I compare my glam bags from February to now? Exponentially better. Let’s begin, shall we? 😘

The bag itself is gorgeous-one of my all time favorites so far. It’s black with a raised stud-type pattern. Really simple and classy. Sometimes less is most.

And here we go with the amazing contents! First-a Luxie angled eyeshadow brush-

I’ve got a number of Luxie brushes in my collection and I’ve got zero complaints. They’re well-made, don’t shed, and perform wonderfully.  The approximate retail value of this brush is 12$.

Next-Adesse NY Gel Effect nail polish in the shade Deception-

It’s actually more brown than it looks in this photo, it almost looks green here-but it’s definitely a brownish-gray. I’ve received a number of this brand’s polishes, I do like them, a lot. They retail for 18$ though, which is a bit pricey for my 1.99$ nail polish-spending self.

I was really looking forward to this-

And oh emm gee. I LOVE this. It’s Skinfood Egg White Pore Control Cleansing foam. I tried it last nigh and it’s FABULOUS. The foam/lather is rich and thick but not too thick so it feels mask-y, it rinses easily and smells SO EFFIN GOOD. I’ll actually purchase this once it’s gone. Love love love. This is a sample, so no retail price, however it sells for 11$ at Ulta. I am soooo buying this, and checking out the rest of the line.

I got a Pixie by Petra Beauty Blush Duo in Peach Honey-

It’s pretty-light peachy pink with a slight shimmer. Swatched-

It swatches light with my finger, I’m sure performs differently with a brush on the face. Either way it’s really light and pretty.  Retail price 12$.

Lastly is the item I requested for the month, Colourpop Ultra Glossy Lip in Ipsy VIP-

I love Colourpop’s gloss formula-not sticky or goopy. This is a rather opaque berry pink-

I love that it’s so opaque. Can definitely wear it alone or as a topper on another shade. Can’t go wrong with Colourpop. This retails for 6$. That said, I’d love to see subscription boxes including other Colourpop products such as their shadows, highlighters, and nail polish. They’re so much more than lipstick.

So there you have it-out of 5 items, 4 are full sized, bringing the value of this glam bag to approx 40$, for 10$ monthly? Incredible value.

🌟 September Boxycharm Review 🌟

Boxycharm pulled some trickery on me this month-I never got an email with shipping notification so yes, I was griping-but she just showed up unannounced in my mailbox today and could not have been more welcome.

This month’s theme is “Boxy Baddie” and there are 6 items instead of the usual 5.

First, we have the MAC eyebrow pencil in Lingering-

It twists to get the product out, FYI (some people had a hard time) and here’s a swatch-

MAC describes it as self-propelling and self-sharpening, so there’s that. Retails for 18$. That’s kind of a lot for an eyebrow pencil with no spoolie, right? But, MAC.

I also received the Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask-

It smells REALLY good-sort of coconut-y. It’s full size at 2 ounces and retails for 20$. I’ll be trying it today.

Next? Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Strip-

The Ultra Satin Lip formula is nice-the Ultra Matte, in my opinion is very unforgiving and tends to be super drying and flaky. It depends on the color as to just how flaky and drying-but this formula is more moisturizing, softer, and applies more smoothly. It dries down to a semi-matte.  These retail for 6$.

I got the bareMinerals Perfecting Face brush-yay, I wanted this one-

It’s got a little reservoir in the middle to put your foundation, and the bristles are nice and soft-

The reservoir is not as deep as it looks in this photo though. This brush retails for 28$.

Also, I got the Studio Makeup Loose Blush. I don’t see a shade name though-but you get A LOT of product. 7 grams-that’s a ton.

Swatched:

You know-it did not seem that pigmented-to get that payoff I had to do around 8 finger swatches. That said, it’s very possible that it performs better on the face with a brush. This retails for 35$.

Last but never least, the star of the box-the pür Soirée Diaries Eyeshadow Palette-

Nice, large mirror, y’all.  You’ve got 8 mattes and 4 shimmers-

Like my fingernail divot in the last pan? Neither do I 😩 when I pulled off the plastic protective cover, boom.

Next is the matte swatches. The first row shades are crazy light, so you won’t see much.

The mattes swatched sort of meh-but again, probably will be different applied.

But the shimmers swatched so beautifully, pigmented AF and gorgeous-

Love. This palette retails for 34$.

All told the retail value of this box is 141$. Amazing, for 21$- seriously.

Hope you enjoyed!

August Ipsy Glam Bag

img_3357

As you can see, I got a gold bag instead of the usual pink bag this month….interesting….

It’s a new program Ipsy is launching-its called Ipsy Cash, and it’s a beauty rewards program where you get literal cash back for every purchase you make, either in a paper check or to your PayPal. There’s a catalogue type thing with all sorts of beauty products, and it explains how the rewards program works. I’m sure everyone will eventually get it.

img_3358

So any way, the theme for the month is “Good Vibes Only”. There are 3 different Glam bag styles this month, this is the one I got:

img_3366

It’s cute-it’s a faux leather feel, the inside is lined with a purple fabric.

My first item this month:
A True Spring Green Tea Watery Calming Cream

img_3362
It’s got a nice light scent, and isn’t heavy or great. The bottle says “Heritage in France, Rediscovered in Korea”. I’m not sure what that means.

Next we have Derma E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum with Hyaluronic Acid:

img_3360
It’s got sort of an orange-y scent, and I’ve never used a Serum so I’ll let you know 😉

Next, an SL MissGlam x Ipsy precise blending brush. This was the item I had requested for the month as well-

img_3359

It’s cute! Nice teal color, the bristles are soft-seems like a nice little brush, plus I am always down for some new brushes.

I’ve got the Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara in Big Is The New Black

img_3361

Sorry about the flash-dumb iPhone decided it was very necessary. What sucks is that my lashes suck so bad that even the best mascara on the planet does not help them. I can’t really tell a fabulous one from a shitty one because my lashes are just that puny, thin, and sparse. My lower lashes dont exist. Life is hard, y’all.

Last but not least, Seraphine Botanicals Liquid Coal Waterproof Liquid Liner in black, obvie-

img_3363
This is full size and retails for 22$. It’s actually a really nice pen liner. I find these much easier than the wand liners.

img_3364

It’s got a great fine line, easy to maneuver.

And there you have it! I’m pleased with this month’s bag. I’ve been subscribing to Ipsy since January and in the past 6 months, they have REALLY stepped it up. Love them.

September Boxycharm Spoiler & Aug Update

img_3348

As I think I mentioned before, Boxycharm subs will include Eyeshadow palettes in all boxes thru December. The September box will have the Pür Cosmetics Soirée Diaries Eyeshadow Palette retailing for 34$.

img_3349

It looks gorgeous-a really pretty neutral/nude palette that any skin shade can use. Sorta reminds me of the Carli Bybel one.

August boxes do have some variations. While all boxes include the tarte palette, the royal and langnickle brushes, and the pür cosmetics lashes, these are some of the variants you may receive.

BellaPierre Gel Eyeliner in Ebony

img_3350

Gel eyeliner, who can’t use a new eyeliner, right? This retails for 15$.

The Beauty Crop GRLPWR Liquid Lip in Date Night-

img_3351

img_3352

Another nice nude. Can I just say that I own a Beauty Crop liquid lip and they smell SO GOOD. Retails for 15$.

And there you have it!!

Thank you to My Subscription Addiction for the info.

July Ipsy Bag Review

My July Ipsy Glam Bag made it FINALLY-although the pink sparkly envelope had seen much better days, it was literally opened and taped shut, but nothing was missing. Thanks FedEx.

The bag this month is adorable-its this Japanese pop culture little fried egg guy named Gudetama. Apparently, he’s lazy, somewhat depressed, unfazed, and unmotivated.

Front:

img_3247
***
Back:

img_3245
Even the zipper’s given up:

img_3246
The inside is lined with a bright yellow liner, which I love.

img_3248
Hubs is disturbed by the fact the the yolk has a butt. 😳 This bag is sturdy, it feels really well made. Not that they usually aren’t.

Ok! Onto the goodies!

First goodie: Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Deep Dive Cleansing Gel

img_3250
It’s obviously sample size-it’s got a refreshing scent and I’m excited to try it. This was the product I requested this month.
****
Ofra single pan shadow in Gold Rush-

img_3251-1
I love Ofra shadows and Gold Rush does not disappoint. I’ll be adding her to my Z Palette today-retails for 6$ and here’s a swatch:

img_3252
****
Next, Seraphine Botanicals Ginger and Gold Peach and Gold Frosting Blush-

img_3253
Now this…this is a gorgeous peachy/gold blush, not too heavy or shimmery.

img_3254
It’s got ginger, chamomile, lychee, and mangosteen extracts as well. Retails for 14$. Swatched:

img_3255
It’s actually not as light as it looks in this photo-it’s really pretty.
****
I was hoping I’d get this, and was so happy it was in the bag.

img_3256
Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet. It smells AMAZING. There is, however, one MAJOR disappointment with this:

img_3261
Seriously? I mean, I get that this is a trial/sample size-.33 oz or 10ml which is about 2 tsp, but I mean….no. I’m putting this on IG too. No shame. I’m looking forward to trying it-if there’s enough.
****
Last but not least, Chella Eyebrow Cream in Tantalizing Taupe

img_3257
This pen type packaging is cool, on one end you have a tapered, thin eyebrow brush:

img_3258
Then, on the other end, in the cap, is the eyebrow cream:

img_3259
You dip the brush in the cream (which feels a little more powdery then creamy, but whatever). I haven’t tried it on my brows yet, but judging by the swatch I think I’ll like it:

img_3260
This size retails for 24$-not bad, Ipsy!
*****

And I got one extra goodie with my Ipsy points!

img_3249
Real human hair, y’all. I haven’t decided how I feel about that. Like, exactly WHO’S hair is this? 😳 I’ll get over it I’m sure.

So there it is-the July Ipsy Glam Bag. This is probably one of my favorite bags-Ipsy has been gradually upping their game. The actual bag is adorable, and I feel like I got 3 full size products-the shadow, blush, and brow cream. If they’re not full size, they’re pretty darn close, and all for 10$. Brava, Ipsy.

Thoughts?

***Ipdate**** (get it? Ipsy update?) I tweeted a photo of my almost-empty Caudalie, Ipsy contacted me and are sending me another. I thought that was pretty great customer service.

What was in your bag?

Boxycharm July 2017 Review

Well, that was a nice surprise-my box came pretty darn early this month-and it’s a good one. Let’s start:

img_3222

The theme for this month is “Cutie Pie”. Okay. First thing I grabbed:

img_3223
The Ofra Body Illuminizer. It looks like it may be some sort of collab between Ofra and Boxycharm-it’s lightly scented if at all, and comes out sort of dark:

img_3224
But it blends out to a very very light shimmery glow. The lighting in this picture is poor, but trust me, in person it’s there.

img_3225

It’s really pretty-not at all like a tanning lotion and doesn’t really alter your skin tone. I likey. This retails for 39.95$. Dayum.
****
Next, the blinc x Boxycharm Electric Eyes Palette:

img_3226

img_3228
It’s got a mirror, cute-but guys. O.M.G.-look at this:

img_3227
That is ONE swipe each. These are SO beautifully pigmented, creamy, buttery, and gorgeous. The cranberry color is giving me life-you obviously couldn’t do an entire look from this with no mattes, but when you do? Wow. This retails for 45$.
****

img_3229
So I got the primer, and after sort of wanting the powder at first I’m glad I got this. It feels like a good primer-that kind of soft, silky primer feel? Very lightly scented, and a good SPF to boot.

img_3230
This bareMinerals Mineral Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Daily Prep Lotion retails for 30$.
****
WinkyLux Uni-Brow Universal Eyebrow Pencil:

img_3231
It’s allegedly universal so will work on most brows. It’s got a spoolie on one end and a triangular pencil at the other.

img_3232
This retails for 12$.
****
Last but never least-ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lip in the shade Thursday:

img_3233
It’s the usual ColourPop formula, and it’s a nice berry shade. Good for summer and fall, actually.

img_3234

And that’s it! This month’s box is worth 130.00$. That’s excellent for a 21$ box, y’all.

How was your Boxycharm for July?

Jergens Natural Glow: Go Or No?

img_3218

I’ve been seeing this Jergens product on the Tube and the ‘Gram for weeks now, and it’s intrigued me.

I’ve been a sun worshiper for years, and I hate to think of the damage I’ve done to my skin. This summer I decided to lay off if the UV rays, but I wasn’t looking forward to the ghostly pale. Because I get DARK. As fair as I am, it must be the 2 percent Greek and Italian I’ve got because I honestly can tan ridiculously dark.

Enter Jergens Natural Glow. It’s not cheap-I paid 8.49$ for 4 oz at Walmart-I was fine with that because I wanted to make sure I didn’t turn orange.

img_3219

I’m not orange. It actually gives you a realistic, healthy tan glow without the orangey hue. This is 2 days of application-and after the first day I thought “hmm-should I wash my hands? Nah. It’ll be fine.” It wasn’t. Wash your hands unless you want muddy palms.

It isn’t as splotchy as it’s photographing-I’m actually pleasantly shocked at how natural the color is.

It has a pleasing scent-typical lotion-y smell, it’s not greasy, and I do find it moisturizing.

So it’s a go, y’all. A great and safe alternative to the inconvenience of melanoma. Seriously though-if you’re looking for a quick healthy looking glow, Jergens Natural Glow is it.

Once you stop applying, it fades in about 2-3 days.
