August Ipsy Glam Bag

As you can see, I got a gold bag instead of the usual pink bag this month….interesting….

It’s a new program Ipsy is launching-its called Ipsy Cash, and it’s a beauty rewards program where you get literal cash back for every purchase you make, either in a paper check or to your PayPal. There’s a catalogue type thing with all sorts of beauty products, and it explains how the rewards program works. I’m sure everyone will eventually get it.

So any way, the theme for the month is “Good Vibes Only”. There are 3 different Glam bag styles this month, this is the one I got:

It’s cute-it’s a faux leather feel, the inside is lined with a purple fabric.

My first item this month:
A True Spring Green Tea Watery Calming Cream

It’s got a nice light scent, and isn’t heavy or great. The bottle says “Heritage in France, Rediscovered in Korea”. I’m not sure what that means.

Next we have Derma E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum with Hyaluronic Acid:

It’s got sort of an orange-y scent, and I’ve never used a Serum so I’ll let you know 😉

Next, an SL MissGlam x Ipsy precise blending brush. This was the item I had requested for the month as well-

It’s cute! Nice teal color, the bristles are soft-seems like a nice little brush, plus I am always down for some new brushes.

I’ve got the Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara in Big Is The New Black

Sorry about the flash-dumb iPhone decided it was very necessary. What sucks is that my lashes suck so bad that even the best mascara on the planet does not help them. I can’t really tell a fabulous one from a shitty one because my lashes are just that puny, thin, and sparse. My lower lashes dont exist. Life is hard, y’all.

Last but not least, Seraphine Botanicals Liquid Coal Waterproof Liquid Liner in black, obvie-

This is full size and retails for 22$. It’s actually a really nice pen liner. I find these much easier than the wand liners.

It’s got a great fine line, easy to maneuver.

And there you have it! I’m pleased with this month’s bag. I’ve been subscribing to Ipsy since January and in the past 6 months, they have REALLY stepped it up. Love them.

September Boxycharm Spoiler & Aug Update

As I think I mentioned before, Boxycharm subs will include Eyeshadow palettes in all boxes thru December. The September box will have the Pür Cosmetics Soirée Diaries Eyeshadow Palette retailing for 34$.

It looks gorgeous-a really pretty neutral/nude palette that any skin shade can use. Sorta reminds me of the Carli Bybel one.

August boxes do have some variations. While all boxes include the tarte palette, the royal and langnickle brushes, and the pür cosmetics lashes, these are some of the variants you may receive.

BellaPierre Gel Eyeliner in Ebony

Gel eyeliner, who can’t use a new eyeliner, right? This retails for 15$.

The Beauty Crop GRLPWR Liquid Lip in Date Night-

Another nice nude. Can I just say that I own a Beauty Crop liquid lip and they smell SO GOOD. Retails for 15$.

And there you have it!!

Thank you to My Subscription Addiction for the info.

July Ipsy Bag Review

My July Ipsy Glam Bag made it FINALLY-although the pink sparkly envelope had seen much better days, it was literally opened and taped shut, but nothing was missing. Thanks FedEx.

The bag this month is adorable-its this Japanese pop culture little fried egg guy named Gudetama. Apparently, he’s lazy, somewhat depressed, unfazed, and unmotivated.

Even the zipper’s given up:

The inside is lined with a bright yellow liner, which I love.

Hubs is disturbed by the fact the the yolk has a butt. 😳 This bag is sturdy, it feels really well made. Not that they usually aren’t.

Ok! Onto the goodies!

First goodie: Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Deep Dive Cleansing Gel

It’s obviously sample size-it’s got a refreshing scent and I’m excited to try it. This was the product I requested this month.
Ofra single pan shadow in Gold Rush-

I love Ofra shadows and Gold Rush does not disappoint. I’ll be adding her to my Z Palette today-retails for 6$ and here’s a swatch:

Next, Seraphine Botanicals Ginger and Gold Peach and Gold Frosting Blush-

Now this…this is a gorgeous peachy/gold blush, not too heavy or shimmery.

It’s got ginger, chamomile, lychee, and mangosteen extracts as well. Retails for 14$. Swatched:

It’s actually not as light as it looks in this photo-it’s really pretty.
I was hoping I’d get this, and was so happy it was in the bag.

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet. It smells AMAZING. There is, however, one MAJOR disappointment with this:

Seriously? I mean, I get that this is a trial/sample size-.33 oz or 10ml which is about 2 tsp, but I mean….no. I’m putting this on IG too. No shame. I’m looking forward to trying it-if there’s enough.
Last but not least, Chella Eyebrow Cream in Tantalizing Taupe

This pen type packaging is cool, on one end you have a tapered, thin eyebrow brush:

Then, on the other end, in the cap, is the eyebrow cream:

You dip the brush in the cream (which feels a little more powdery then creamy, but whatever). I haven’t tried it on my brows yet, but judging by the swatch I think I’ll like it:

This size retails for 24$-not bad, Ipsy!

And I got one extra goodie with my Ipsy points!

Real human hair, y’all. I haven’t decided how I feel about that. Like, exactly WHO’S hair is this? 😳 I’ll get over it I’m sure.

So there it is-the July Ipsy Glam Bag. This is probably one of my favorite bags-Ipsy has been gradually upping their game. The actual bag is adorable, and I feel like I got 3 full size products-the shadow, blush, and brow cream. If they’re not full size, they’re pretty darn close, and all for 10$. Brava, Ipsy.

***Ipdate**** (get it? Ipsy update?) I tweeted a photo of my almost-empty Caudalie, Ipsy contacted me and are sending me another. I thought that was pretty great customer service.

What was in your bag?

Boxycharm July 2017 Review

Well, that was a nice surprise-my box came pretty darn early this month-and it’s a good one. Let’s start:

The theme for this month is “Cutie Pie”. Okay. First thing I grabbed:

The Ofra Body Illuminizer. It looks like it may be some sort of collab between Ofra and Boxycharm-it’s lightly scented if at all, and comes out sort of dark:

But it blends out to a very very light shimmery glow. The lighting in this picture is poor, but trust me, in person it’s there.

It’s really pretty-not at all like a tanning lotion and doesn’t really alter your skin tone. I likey. This retails for 39.95$. Dayum.
Next, the blinc x Boxycharm Electric Eyes Palette:

It’s got a mirror, cute-but guys. O.M.G.-look at this:

That is ONE swipe each. These are SO beautifully pigmented, creamy, buttery, and gorgeous. The cranberry color is giving me life-you obviously couldn’t do an entire look from this with no mattes, but when you do? Wow. This retails for 45$.

So I got the primer, and after sort of wanting the powder at first I’m glad I got this. It feels like a good primer-that kind of soft, silky primer feel? Very lightly scented, and a good SPF to boot.

This bareMinerals Mineral Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Daily Prep Lotion retails for 30$.
WinkyLux Uni-Brow Universal Eyebrow Pencil:

It’s allegedly universal so will work on most brows. It’s got a spoolie on one end and a triangular pencil at the other.

This retails for 12$.
Last but never least-ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lip in the shade Thursday:

It’s the usual ColourPop formula, and it’s a nice berry shade. Good for summer and fall, actually.

And that’s it! This month’s box is worth 130.00$. That’s excellent for a 21$ box, y’all.

How was your Boxycharm for July?

Jergens Natural Glow: Go Or No?

I’ve been seeing this Jergens product on the Tube and the ‘Gram for weeks now, and it’s intrigued me.

I’ve been a sun worshiper for years, and I hate to think of the damage I’ve done to my skin. This summer I decided to lay off if the UV rays, but I wasn’t looking forward to the ghostly pale. Because I get DARK. As fair as I am, it must be the 2 percent Greek and Italian I’ve got because I honestly can tan ridiculously dark.

Enter Jergens Natural Glow. It’s not cheap-I paid 8.49$ for 4 oz at Walmart-I was fine with that because I wanted to make sure I didn’t turn orange.

I’m not orange. It actually gives you a realistic, healthy tan glow without the orangey hue. This is 2 days of application-and after the first day I thought “hmm-should I wash my hands? Nah. It’ll be fine.” It wasn’t. Wash your hands unless you want muddy palms.

It isn’t as splotchy as it’s photographing-I’m actually pleasantly shocked at how natural the color is.

It has a pleasing scent-typical lotion-y smell, it’s not greasy, and I do find it moisturizing.

So it’s a go, y’all. A great and safe alternative to the inconvenience of melanoma. Seriously though-if you’re looking for a quick healthy looking glow, Jergens Natural Glow is it.

Once you stop applying, it fades in about 2-3 days.

LORAC Pro Palette 3: Go or No?

I bought this palette about 2 months ago, but I hadn’t pulled it out to use until last week. Why I do that I don’t understand.

I shouldn’t have waited-this palette is amazing. The shadows are creamy and amazingly blendable, nicely pigmented-it’s got 8 mattes and 8 shimmers which I really like-often times you’ll get less mattes than shimmers in a palette which is really limiting. Here are the mattes swatched:

The second swatch from my hand is called Canvas, and the fourth is Pink Nude-they aren’t showing up too well in the lighting but I promise, they’re great.

Next, the shimmers swatched:

The third one in from my wrist is called Medallion and let me tell you-Spray some fix plus on your brush, pack it on your lid and holy cats.

There’s a close up-you can see Canvas and Pink Nude much better in that shot as well.

This palette retails for 44$-well worth it if you’re looking for a good nude/neutral palette. LORAC is pretty underrated, I feel like-they’ve been around forever and honestly have some solid products.

So this LORAC Pro Palette 3 is a GO!

May Sephora Play! Review

I got this a few days ago but have been alternating between busy and lazy, so finally here we go. There were a few variations of this subscription that went out, and out of those there was 1 that I REALLLLLY wanted, and guess what? The makeup gods listened.

Last month everything came in a drawstring bag, this month is a sturdy plastic envelope type thingy. I like it-it’s different.
First product I grabbed is from Grande Lips, a hydrating lip plumper. It says instant plump within 3-5 minutes, and if you apply it every night before bed your lips will be 15% plumper. Mmhmm. It applies like a Gloss, and feels like menthol on my lips? Not burning-just-tingling maybe. It’s not uncomfortable just weird. My lips look the same too.

I really wanted this-Milk Makeup Blur Stick. It’s a matte blurring stick meant to minimize pores and fine lines. Use it as a primer.

Next is Rahua Omega 9 Hair Mask. You’re supposed to apply to shampooed hair, comb through, and rinse after 10-15 min. It’s got a rare rainforest grown rahua nut oil on it, which supposedly Amazonian tribes have used in their long, luxurious locks. I had received the Marc Anthony Deep Repair Mask in a previous sub and it SUCKED. This one smells like eucalyptus maybe? Not fruity or beach. I can’t put my finger on it.

I wanted this too-Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask. It’s teeny weeny but the glass jar is neat. It’s got French pink clay and pomegranate enzymes. It smells fresh-like the usual face mask smell. It’s so cute! (Translation-small)

Last, but not least-I didn’t know how much I wanted this until I got it-trèStique Highlight and Multi-Purpose Stick in Maldives Luminescent. It’s a gel highlighter stick in a champagne pink shimmer. I think it’s so pretty-

When I saw this I thought ooooo I really want to try that. Here’s a swatch:

Isn’t that pretty? It’s not glittery, definitely more of a subtle sheen. I like the pencil application, it’s different.

So that’s my May Sephora Play! bag, I’m super happy with it actually. Thoughts?

Shiny Things Part 1

Ok guys-now for the highlighters. I LOVE highlighters. Probably too much. But they’re everything awesome-shimmer, shiny, and pretty-what’s not to love, really.

Colourpop’s pearlized highlighters are a little more expensive than their liquid lipsticks at 8$ but the quality is just as amazing. They are cream-based so the consistency is soft and smooth, not powdery like an eyeshadow but almost like a creme blush.

The first one I bought is called “Flexitarian”. I first bought this shade back in November, I love it so much I got it again. It’s a warm beige with a metallic finish-in my experience it’s best applied with fingertips. You can build with this from just light effect to dramatic shine. Good pigmentation:

That’s my old one-Colourpop didn’t send me a ratty highlighter 😉

Hee hee excuse the tattoos and I can still see the swatch remnants from the lipstick on my arm-anyway-this is one of my favorites because you can build and make it as dramatic or light as you’d like.

Dupes for Colourpop Super Shock Cheek in Flexitarian are:

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone

MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish in TUTU

Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighter in Warm Glow
