October Boxycharm!o

I was ready to be disappointed with this month’s box because 1) last month was BoxyLuxe, and how do you top that and 2) it looked like the products were meh. But-I’ve been surprised.

I’m going to start with the “meh” and work up to the “yeah!”. Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Eye Masks. I got these a few months ago and didn’t like them then. Passing them on to my best friend.

*I did get an email from Boxycharm apologizing for including a product I’ve previously received, and said next month I’ll get an extra item in my Boxycharm.

These 3 under eye masks retail for 13$.

IT Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara

I hate IT Cosmetics and I hate this mascara. I’ve gotten this in countless Ipsy, Sephora Play, and from Ulta for my bday gift. I didn’t like it then and I don’t like it now. This will be given away too-retails for 24$.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade Crucifix

It’s way darker than it photographed here, I actually like the shade-it’s s really dark chocolate brown.

It’s better than the shade my sneak peek told me I was getting, that’s a plus. I’m not overly in love with KVD as a brand though, a little problematic. I’ve got to say though, in all fairness, this is a fantastic formula. This lipstick retails for 20$.

BrioGeo Don’t Despair Repair Moisture Leave In Mask-I’m glad for this, my hair could use the moisture and this is a great brand. There’s 2 ounces, and retails for 16$.

Last, the star of the box. Pur Midnight Masquerade Palette

This is far more beautiful than I had anticipated. The left side has blush, bronzer, and highlighter and the right has 6 eyeshadows.

Face side

Eye side

The face side has 2 blushes to choose from-the darker one is called Reveal, the more salmon/pink is called Hidden Secret, the bronzer is Enchantment, the highlighter is Twilight. Swatched from left to right Hidden Secret, Reveal, Enchantment, Twilight:

The blushes have a definite sheen to them as does the bronzer, so if you’re a matte blush/bronze person, you might not love it. I do though-I’m all about a sheen-y blush lately.

The shadows are pretty pigmented as well, but there’s only one matte shade. You might need to dip into another palette if you’re looking for a lighter transition shade. Or just use the face side. Top row swatched left to right: Exposed, Sneak Peek, Showtime

Mask Off, Disguise, 12AM

Showtime, the blue shimmer, is gorgeous. I love that shade-12AM is more of a dark gray shimmer than a black in my opinion. This beauty retails for 38$, and this is probably one of the best Pur palettes we’ve gotten.

The grand total value for this month is 111$. Not too shabby.

NYX Epic Ink & L’Oreal Lash Paradise: Go or No

I recently picked up a liquid eyeliner pen on my Ulta Haul last weekend and just tried it a few days ago. Holy Cats. SO MUCH EASIER than a wand. It’s more accurate, the line is much finer, and way easier to use. I grabbed the NYX Epic Ink Liner-its supposedly a dupe for Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner.

The different thicknesses you get
It was 7.99$ (after my discounts 5.08$-even better) and this is what the tip looks like:

And the packaging:

It’s really, really worth trying. Absolutely a GO. 👍🏻

The next thing I bought is the new L’Oréal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara-YouTube gurus are going sick for this mascara (so of course, yours truly had to check it out)

Aside from the coloring, I’d say this is the best dupe so far for Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. Listen, I have the shittiest, puniest, shortest and thinnest lashes on the planet. They’re just basically non existent. I don’t even have bottom lashes I can coat with mascara. So whenever I hear about a great mascara that everyone is raving about, I’m going for it. This is good. This is really good. Super similar to the Too Faced formula-the L’Oréal Voluminous is my favorite Drugstore mascara anyway-so this makes me happy.
Oh-here’s the wand (different from the Too Faced)

I’ll be perfectly honest, the only mascara that really gave my short, thin lashes any type of length and volume was the Physician’s Formula Lash Extension Kit. It was mascara and a separate tube of fibers that you apply alternately, one on top of the other. It was a bitch to apply and and a bitch to remove but I had lashes. I finally did cave and buy false lashes. Several pairs. But I digress.

Bottom line? The L’Oréal Voluminous Lash Paradise mascara is absolutely a GO. 👍🏻

4th of July Ulta Haul

As if I need an excuse to go to Ulta. 4th of July weekend? Let’s go makeup shopping!!

I did damn good-

I bought:
Tarte Shape Tape
Urban Decay Shadowbox Palette
Catrice MultiTalent Fixing Spray
NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray
Philosophy Purity Makeup Remover Wipes
NYX Epic Ink Liquid Liner Pen
Benefit Roller Lash (travel size)
LA Girl Pro Concealer

The total came to 131$-but I had a 20% off everything coupon and points worth 17.50$ soooo it came to 72$. So. Worth. It.

I watched one of Tati’s videos this morning on Best Drugstore Under 10$ Buys, and she raved about the Catrice Spray. After all if the discounts it came to 5.08$, so why not?

You can use it as Setting Spray, primer, fix plus-so I wanted to give it a try.

I’ve been hearing RAVES about the LA Girl Pro Concealer-

And again, after discounts it was 3.16$. I mean, come on.

The NYX Epic Ink Liner-

It’s supposedly a dupe for the Kat Von D tattoo liquid eyeliner or whatever it’s called-I wanted an eyeliner pen anyway, so here it is.

The UD Shadowbox palette is one I did a giveaway for a few months back-

However-it was on sale for 18$ from 34$.

And after the discounts, 11.44$.

I got the philosophy Purity Makeup Wipes because I love the cleanser-I got it in a Sephora Play box and it’s awesome. I thought the Wipes would be good to try.

Hubs went with me, and he’s the best sport. I usually try to hurry because I’m sure being dragged thru Ulta with his wife on a Saturday is one of the circles of hell for him, but he kept telling me to take my time, he carried the shopping bag, asked questions, made suggestions-so patient, AND paid. I know I got lucky AF.

Hope everyone is having a great, safe, cool holiday weekend 🏖🗽🎆🎇

Holy Grails: Have, Need, Want

What are your holy grail products/tools? What holy grails are you in need of?

My holy grail highlighter right now is a toss up between MaryLou-manizer and the Stila putty.

My go to constant lippie right now is Beauty Bakerie’s “I Like To Chai Chai”. It’s the perfect nude and the formula is amazing.

The Angel Veil primer is my obsession right now-it was SO WORTH looking high and low for-I love the way it applies and how my skin feels once it’s on. Love.

My HG Cheek palette for the moment is the lorac California Dreamin’ Cheek palette. It’s got 2 bronzers and 2 blushes and they are GORG.

The shades left to right are Sunlight, Wavelength, Ray, and Golden Hour. I use Golden Hour and Ray for contour/bronzer and Wavelength for blush. Wavelength is the prettiest dust pink with a touch of shimmer-love it.

I’ve found that if I want my highlight to pop to the heavens, I use a liquid highlight first-I’ve got NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sunbeam, I then add theBalm MaryLou-manizer over it and holy moly. It looks beautiful.

The NYX-I think it was $5.99 or something like that-Walgreens.

My HG foundation application is with this flat top brush from at n wild-$2.99, people. I’ve got some pricier brushes too, but this one never lets me down.

What are your Holy Grails? What Holy Grails do you need?

Too Faced Haul

It finally arrived and did not disappoint. First let me say, they are NOT stingy with their samples (sorry, Ulta). I got a eyelid Primer and 4 packets of Born This Way foundation, and the packets are thick. You can select which samples you want when you check out, and I love that.

The Sweet Peach Palette is everything and more. The smell-omg-like peaches but its light, not overpowering. Every shade is nicely pigmented, and with 18 cohesive colors you’ve got a million combos to try. Worth the 49$. I’ve been eyeing this play for months-but it’s 50$ and what if I hate it blah blah, I just threw caution to the wind, haha, and glad I did.

That’s just one swipe, from the top down: Just Peachy, Candied Peach, Peach Pit, and Carmelized.

From top to bottom again: Delectable, Tempting, Luscious, and Peaches ‘n Cream (across the tattoo-sorry)

I also purchased the mini version of the Better Than Sex Mascara for 12$. I didn’t go with the full size for the fact that my lashes are SO PUNY, it takes one hell of a product to make them exist, so rather than spend the 23$ I wanted to try it first. Which I haven’t yet.

I use fake lashes, but the one mascara that lived up to the hype was Physicians Formula lash extension kit. It’s the one with the fibers. But it took a while to apply-and I can be impatient. Worth it-it worked beautifully. But that’s not a Too Faced product is it? 😁

I’m looking forward to the Born This Way foundation, I’ve heard great things, and y’all know I’ll let you know 😉

Makeup Post, Take 2

I’d like to talk mascara with y’all on this fine morning-I have puny lashes, it’s awfully pitiful really. I’ll use fakies if I’m going to a function or something but for regular use, I use Physicians Formula Lash Extension kit. It comes with mascara as well as these fibers you apply in between mascara coats. It works WONDERS. If I get really motivated I’ll post a before/after with/without picture. I’m sure there have got to be regular mascaras that work just as well without so much work-before my lashes ran away I loved DiorShow.

I remember in high school the go to was the pink and green maybelline brand-it’s a reliable formula but no can do. Of course my 16 year old son has lashed so long they touch his eyebrows, practically. Ain’t that the way.

What’s your poison, Lovelies?
