So I started watching HBO’s “Little Big Lies”-I love it. Love love. Thank you to those who recommended it!

Part 3 is coming by this weekend-Sunday at the latest. I don’t do rough drafts or anything, I just tap tap tap it out as it comes to me, I just haven’t had time to really just sit and get in that headspace.

  1. This is my favorite show on TV right now. I am really bummed that Sunday night is the finale.
    Please, please, book readers. Don’t spoil the ending because the suspense of this show is killing me, but I am avoiding spoilers.
    Allie- if you are just starting, I’m jealous as hell. Don’t plan on sleeping tonight!! You won’t be able to stop watching.

    • I watched til 2am. And I’m PISSED that there’s only one episode left. Honestly, the way they filmed Jane’s rape was GENIUS. It wasn’t exploitative, and filming it as an out of body experience was brilliant. I haven’t read the book but be warned, I’m about to post my guesses. As far as who’s murder it is I’m not sure but I think that Perry is Ziggy’s father. I don’t want this series to be over!! So well acted, compelling story line, direction is on point-I know all good things must come to an end but booooo. And Alexander Skarsgard is always Eric Northman to me. I’m waiting for Perry’s fangs to click out.

      • Well since so many of you have promoted this show and talk about how great it is, I’m going to have to check it out this weekend! Do any of you know if the entire series that is showing now on Demand or streaming? Also, is this the first season? Thanks for the help in advance!

      • Oh buildergal! The entire series is on demand.
        It is a limited 7 part series. So the entire story wraps up and is done after Sunday night. Only seven episodes. Bums me out.
        I suggest you head to the store and get your favorite munchie food and take your phone off the hook for six hours!

  2. I love Big Little Lies! I think it’s really well acted and directed and the story is more engaging then I thought it would be. I’m pulling my hair out trying to figure out who gets shot and who the shooter is. Today I’m thinking that it’s Celeste tha shoots Perry and that one of her sons is bullying Renata’s daughter. But my theories change every day. Can’t wait for the next episode.

    • Misha I have a few theories…
      I think that possibly Perry is the rapist and when they are all brought together at Trivia night, Jane (who always says she will always remember his voice and smell) realizes it’s Perry, they (maybe all three of the women) push him down those stairs. You know how they are always showing Madeline walking up those stairs while checking on production of the play? And the police tape on them? Seems ominous to me.
      I kind of think the bully is one of the twins (or maybe both)?
      Total theories of mine which are probably wrong, but that’s where I am leaning right now.

      • I find the character of Perry so disturbing!! It’s almost like Celeste and the boys are his possessions. I also think that he’s the rapist but at the same time it’s a little obvious so I’m hoping it’s just a red herring. But who knows! Also I think Madeline’s husband isn’t all that he appears to be.

      • The scene with the therapist… the flashback to the picking up the toys. It literally made my blood run cold. He is one sick mother-fucker. No one can fix a guy like that.
        I kinda dig Steady Eddie. Lots of theories out there thinking he is shady, but I haven’t really agreed with that yet.
        How about the soundtrack put to these scenes??? I have downloaded five songs from this show since I have been watching. It really is almost perfect television!

      • Just when you think he can’t get any more disturbing…. I had a good laugh at this week’s episode when he came in contact with the tennis racket. But then I think there’s going to be hell to pay for that.

        The soundtrack is really great. I’m hoping some sort of compilation will be released to capture all the music.

      • I don’t think Bonnie is all she appears to be either. The cast is so cohesive-every single actor is perfect for the character and it wouldn’t be the same if anyone else had been cast. I find some of the scenes with Perry and Celeste hard to watch sometimes though, just from my own experiences.

Seeing how the weather is going to be crummy I plan on taking your advise and loading up on the food, stay in my Jammie’s all day and with my dog up on the bed we will watch this show! I have to say, it has been such a busy week so I’m really in the mood for a day to binge watch some good tv! Thanks again Pip I will let you know how I like it. And now I’m going to stay away from here for a while so I don’t get “spoiled”! 😛

      • Oh my gosh Pip did you get a look at the script?! Thanks for giving me the info about this show so I was able to take today to stay in my Jammie’s and bing watch it! Watched all 7 episodes back to back and wow! What a story. So glad you all talked up this show it was a fun day!

        And boy oh boy, Nicole Kidman was unbelievable. Just great. I think they were all good and I’ve always liked Reese Witherspoon and thought she did a good job too, but Nicole’s part was really disturbing and she just nailed it.

  4. Love this show!! Pip the comment you left me the other day had me laughing cause that’s how I feel about this show! I loveee it!!! Only thing is I’m pretty sure I know what’s going to happen! After I read Husband’s Secret I looked for another Liane Moriarty book and found Big Little Lies but ended up not wanting to download it so I looked up the jist of the book and moved along to another book! So it kind of ruined the mini series but not! Lol if that makes sense? So I’m hoping it doesn’t end like I think it’s going to!! Still love this show and I am sooo bummed it’s over sunday!!

    • Wait Chan- so you accidentally spoiled the end of the show for yourself by reading the jacket (or whatever) of the book? Because if that is the case, that sucks!!! So do you know how it’s going to end? Or do you mean you just knew a lot of the story from reading the jacket?

      • Yup I read the jacket or whatever they call it so I know the ending but idk if that’s how the series is going to end?? But it would make sense for them to end it like the book! Still love the series tho!!! And yes I love Alex Skarsgard but my god he’s creepy and horrible in this show!! I read Nicole Kidman said how draining and exhausted she was every night playing this character but she wanted it to be so right and she does play it perfect!!!

      • I have to say the violent scenes between Perry and Celeste affected me in a way I didn’t think it would. They’re pretty realistic and more than once I found myself tearing up, and I don’t even know why.

    Great show. Fantastic actors. Tonz of suspense.
    I kind of think the twins could be the bully(ies). Maybe taking after their dad.
    I love Alexander but damn, I hate him in this role. And Ms. Kidman. Hello? Just perfect.
    Reese is so Reese. For some reason I thought there may be something between her husband and Ms. Kravitz, her ex’s wife. hmmm
    The only negative is, this Sunday is the finale. Sux.
    I read somewhere that in the finale all the ends will be tied up. Let’s see! @@

    • Reese is sooooo Tracy Flick (Pick Flick)! Remember Election? She is good.
      But Kidman is the real star of this show. She has got to win awards for this. Her portrayal of Celeste is tragic, and heartbreaking. She is perfect!

      • Yes! Actually all 3 are amazing-Reese is stepping a tiny bit out of her typical role, I feel like-and Shailene Woodley as Jane is just as great. No other actresses could have nailed these roles like these 3.

    • And another thing, izme… how in the heck are they going to wrap up all of these storylines in ONE HOUR? I really hoped we were getting a two hour finale, but HBO has it listed as an hour.
      I can’t imagine how they can reveal everything in an hour.

  8. On a side note, I highly recommend 13 Reasons Why on Netflix. It’s amazing! I’ve been watching it all afternoon. It’s about about teen suicide but it’s more than that. Based on a book by the same name. Really well done.

      • Hey Pip it’s not a happy watch but I think you’ll find this worthwhile. There’s much more to it then what I described. I think having tissues around would be a good thing.

    • Just started the series my gf recommended it and I started watching and realized this was a teen type show… well that’s what I thought till I got sucked in and on episode 4 and can’t turn it off !! Lol..So far this series reminds me of a book I read years ago Looking For Alaska. It was an awesome book same kind of teenage type pain and death

      • I think it’s a bit deceiving to begin with but I’m towards the end of episode 12 and things have gone rather dark. I don’t think this is an easy watch. There were a couple of times where I had to hit pause just to take a moment to breathe. So yeah, not an easy ride.

      Yes, you do need HBO for this. However, I have a friend who actually ordered HBO just for this show and then plans to cancel it. I think HBO is around $15 a month. So that is for sure an option!

  11. I love this show!! Truthfully, I’m afraid to read your comments, worried someone many unintentionally reveal the ending or make too good a guess. I want to be surprised!! I love the this group of actresses (I miss the word Actress). I love the writing that leaves me on the edge of my seat each week, the direction, the music – Martha Wainright’s, “Bloody Mother-Fucking Asshole” over the rolling credits..Brilliant!! Superficially, the homes are so gorgeous, I drool, eye candy each week.
    I’m just sad it’s ending…I want more (!) always the sign of a good series, when they leave you wanting more!

  12. Well, I decided to join this crowd and take Pip’s advice and watched three of the episodes last night (I stayed up until 2:00 am too) and the other three today. I LOVE binge watching a good series.

    My theories: Maybe Ed loses his shit when he finds out about Madeline’s affair and goes after either Nathan or the guy she had the affair with (can’t remember his name). He’s one of those calm, collected, cool types, but he also regrets deeply not standing up to that bully when he was a kid, and seems to want to rectify that. I don’t know though. I hope it’s Perry, I hate him so much. Ew, what a total mofo. I was shocked and delighted when Celeste whacked his penis with that tennis racket and did some real damage to it. Take that, mofo!

    I don’t have a clue who the kid bully is though. It’s probably not Ziggy, since that would be too obvious.

    Have to wait and see, and it’s not too much longer now!!!
