Sour Grapes? Bethenny Frankel’s Ex Arrested

Jason Hoppy, Bethenny Frankel’s ex sounds like he’s got a chip on his shoulder. Still.

According to reports, he was arrested on Friday at his home after going to daughter Bryn’s school to threaten Bethenny. He’s been allegedly emailing her, FaceTiming her and not been very nice, shall we say. He was charged with 1st degree harassment and 4th degree stalking. He of course denies the charges.

I never thought he was an innocent victim in all of this. Ever. The divorce is final, what’s his deal? Story below:

  1. And remember……he was warned, cease and desist was ordered, guess he didn’t abide. I’m so shocked, I really thought he hated the whole life in public etc. But honestly, I never was very invested in either of them. Lol
who knows, except, I do not think a couple millionaires would bother with him if it wasn’t just for an F you!! 🙂

    • Sadly he will be apart of her story line until Bryn/n? is of age and can decide for herself what the deal is. Beth is all about Beth and what serves her best. Her child and her child’s father only exist to serve Beth in whatever it is she needs at the moment i.e a story line for the next season of a TV show or whatever comes down the pike

  2. Betthenny stated several times on the show how upset she was that everyone thought Jason was so great, and that she was the beotch. I think her exact words was that she always looked like the “bad guy”.

This is just sad for Brynn.

      • I don’t think he’s the sweet innocent victim he wants everyone to believe he is. He did some pretty shitty things to her during their divorce-she has evidence, it seems. If it got to the point she needed to hit him with a cease and desist, and then he ignores it-they both just need to behave.

      • Wasn’t he emailing Bethenny and cc’ingredients the boyfriend? And then he actually admitted he did do it?

Or is my brain just very fuzzy and I am remembering things wrong?

      • Thanks Allie,
You clarified what I was trying to say… I am sure B did not get to where she is by being a wallflower. I am certain she has her flaws. Jason played the role of the long suffering, subservient husband, and I don’t think that was the case.

He wouldn’t even get out of the apartment… obviously, paid for by her money…

elizabethbennet, I totally respect your opinion! Hugs!!!

      • I thought Jason was so nice until the last season (I can’t remember the name of the show!). When they went on that boat with her therapist, Omg, Jason was such a jerk!! He was purposely trying to push her buttons to make her explode and thought it was funny. The therapist told him to stop that he was only making things worse and Jason just didn’t seem to care. I got a totally different vibe from him that last season and it wasn’t good. Although, I hate how Bethenny has been these last two seasons (she used to be my favorite housewife), I don’t think she’s the villain in this divorce. He’s no angel.

  3. Don’t think we know the whole story yet. Bethany is not exactly believable and stable herself. Will not pass judgement yet.Best thing for their daughter is to stop all this crap and think of her.

    • For the time being, I’m taking Bethenny’s side on this one. And I’m not particularly fond of her.
My cousin is having a similiar thing happening to her right now and I know a few other women this happened to them. Sometimes the men just can’t let go.

    • A side note…1-3 inches of snow in CT today. I think that used to be called a dusting not the cause for numerous cancellations and accidents it caused in CT today. I mean really…wtf?

      Liked by 5 people

      • I’m SO glad you said that-since when is 1-3 inches a STORM and call for interrupting normal programming for an extra hour of news? This is CT! It snows every single year, and waaaay more than this. My father in law is just as bad-having hubs lug him in shit tons of wood for the fireplace because of the “snow”, he watched the weather channel all day, and was in a snow panic. Even though he’s lived here his whole life. I do not get it. It’s laughable. Lord help us if we get 5 or 6 inches.

      • We’ve been lucky the past 2yrs in RI & CT with no major snowstorms. Nothing compared to 3yrs ago when we got slammed 5 weekends in a row with major blizzards leaving us with accumulations well over 100″. Yesterday, several neighbors (old timers who have lived here their entire lives) used their snow blowers to remove snow that took my husband less time to remove with a shovel in 2 double driveways.

Though many won’t admit it, I think they’re yearning to get slammed. It’s like there’s a certain comfort in it &/or it reminds them of their childhood.

      • Same here. It’s beautiful to see everything covered in a white blanket of snow + it’s comforting to hunker down. While my husband is in your neck of the woods plowing (sometimes for days with no sleep) – I’m alone eating cereal or pasta, but I don’t mind – I actually enjoy it. It’s like being in a cocoon. 😉

      • We had the same here in RI. Soooo many accidents. We are New Englander’s. I know it’s been a mild winter but a few inches of snow shouldn’t have caused all of the problems it did. I was surprised to get a text saying the kids were being let out of school before the snow even started.
I swear, ever since the election, I feel like I’m living in some sort of alternate reality! 😬

    • Totally agree. Living with Bethanny has to be like living in a nightmare. I assume he is under some type of clause that prohibits him from discussing their relationship like she does. This is his way of acting out and it is detrimental to the daughter.
When Jason finds someone who he falls in love with it will ease the pain of the situation. He has kept a very low profile about his love life. I always had a soft spot for him. Even though he is a dick at times he is no match to her aberrant personality and wounded, tortured spirit. She is evil.

      • I agree with you Drac, once again. I can just imagine all the shit she has done to this man behind the scenes that we know nothing about. I tweeted the Hoppy Diaries (they say it isn’t him, but I believe it’s a friend of his at the very least) and told him how to irk/annoy her without getting caught. He’s always going to look bad b/c he doesn’t know how to fight dirty like her, The master manipulator that she is. I still can’t believe she got 70 mil for slapping the word skinnygirl on a bunch of crap. She called herself out when she said “The emperor has no clothes” and that was a 100% spot on diagnosis of her success. I’m not hating, good for her that she got over on whoever paid her for that garbage, but her darkness is not lost on me. One day 20 years from now, we’re all going to be sitting in our rocking chairs reading a NY Times Bestseller by Bryn Hoppy about what an awful Mother she was.. remember Patti told you decades ago.

  4. Can’t even imagine how hard it would be to deal with her and keep my sanity. This is a life long connection when a child is shared otherwise know as hell on earth

    Liked by 2 people

    • What is there that he has to deal with her if he didn’t want to? He got his money. Bethenny has her own money, new boyfriend and would probably be happy if he disappeared off the face of the earth so she wouldn’t have to share Bryn. They can talk to each other through their nannies like Camille and Kelsey do.

      • There’s still connection between the two parents. Teacher conferences, dance recitals, spelling bees, ball games choir concerts. Lots of times when both parents will attend. They both need to work this out for the child’s sake.

      • If you’re on twitter, go to @hoppydiaries and read the explanation for the latest tabloid fodder/claims of harassment. Something about a remote judge issuing an after-the-fact ruling demanding the skinnymonster pay him for god knows what! She became enraged and refused to let him see the child, or even put the child on the phone when he called- so he went all
Ba-Zonkers cray cray on her. I can’t imagine what this ruling for money could be after all is said and done?? My friend said she can open her child support case every 3 years with the Father until her kid is 21, but has it been 3 years already for J & B? My friend also said sometimes after divorce rulings, the primary child support payer is drug back in over changes in health care responsibilities, or if the child has an issue?? I dunno, y’all, no 2-legged babees here, only 4-legged ones!!! 🙂

      • If what he says is true, he would have been better off calling his lawyer about what she’s doing. A judge wouldn’t take her denying him the kid lightly.

Sending her emails and starting a fight with her publicly let’s her win and makes the child suffer.

And she should just put his emails, unread, in a separate mail folder and let her assistant take his calls.

        They are both idiots. 🙂

      • No- up until her kid is 18 or finishes college!! She can bring him in every 3 years to have the judge looks at Babee Daddy’s financials, and she can drag him in if something changes with the health care.. something like that.

  5. I think we all react to celebrity ( I hate to call her a celebrity, but…whatever ) as to our own personal experience. This is how we are played by them. How they make the bucks and keep our interest. My personal experience has been about men being played by conniving women. As a woman it has taken my breath away as to how a female can harm a man. We all personalize these people. I saw Jason as an “everyman” and good for Beth. Did I not see the real story? Who knows. I do know she is not a nice person. I am ashamed of her as a woman. Hmm? I ponder these things but mostly I feel for her/their child. She is the one who will pay. When it come down to I don’t care about the supposed “adults” The child will pay and for this I am very, very sad.

  6. Unless we know them personally, we’re really only speculating. We have no real idea what goes on in their homes or if they’re “nice” or not. Theres very little real about reality!
I’m interested to hear what really happened. And like everyone else, I feel awful for Brynn.

  7. He’s sneaky, did you ever notice how he used to lurk around the apartment trying to hear what was going on? The camera caught him many times doing it. Look, Bethenny is what she is – she doesn’t try to hide it. His parent’s are shady AF too, where do you think he got it. His Mom is lucky she didn’t have criminal charges filed against her for notarizing something she wasn’t authorized to do. That paper she notarized was why Jason was allowed to stay in the apartment and collect fat checks from Bethenny for as long as he did. He is severely pissed off that he didn’t get what he wanted. He was fighting in court for Bethenny to provide him luxury vacations – they were arguing back and forth whether they were actual vacations they took or for business. He did some real smarmy stuff, along with his parent’s. Their one custody hearing wasn’t sealed, and the stuff that she testified to was some real scary shit, I don’t blame her one bit for having him arrested. He’s a creep. It wasn’t her word against hers either, there were many people that didn’t even know either one of them in the apartment doing a magazine story when he and his father pulled some stunts. And yes, he did admit to cc’ing her boyfriend in the emails. His story was he has to have a relationship with him since he’s Bethenney’s boyfriend.
I hope he get’s his ass in a sling over this. This kind of behavior is as every bit as scary as getting hit, if not more so.

    • Agree agree agree. His dirt isn’t as publicized and it’s a lot easier to blame Bethenny because she’s not always the most likeable person-but he and his parents were evil evil evil. And I believe her with this latest incident.

      • But I see it this way, she’s on the box slagging me off left right and centre so I am HOPPing mad 😏 so hell yeh I’m gonna screw with her. And in days of equality why shouldn’t she pay him, no one gives a stuff when it’s the woman taking the fella to the cleaners.

They both need to grow up and think about their daughter.

  8. Ok, now the report is that she got a restraining order against him that bans him from her house, business and Bryn’s school for 6 MONTHS!!! If this information is correct, she must have had a shit load of evidence against him. In PA, a Judge can issue an Emergency PFA until a hearing is held, then the Judge decides if the order shall stay in effect, and for how long. To get one granted the same day for a 6 month period, to me says a lot about what he has been doing to her. That of course, she can’t talk about because of the gag order. I hope this stunt nullifies the gag order and she can finally tell all.

  9. I don’t get all the criticism for him not leaving the apartment. If I quit my job to work for my husbands company (on his request) assisted in closing some critical deals and along with my parents served as the primary caregiver to our child, I would not leave the apartment either. Women often don’t get criticized for being shrewd in divorce. Also why can’t women also be considered powerful and capable enough to pay alimony?

    Liked by 2 people

    • They did have a prenup that neither one would ask for alimony, and he did have his mother illegally notarize papers when buying the apt.

I wonder how much money was wasted on lawyers compared to how much of a better deal he ended up with (if at all.)

She allegedly kept offering better deals than the prenup and he kept refusing. (Allegedly.) It sounds to me like he just wants to keep punishing her.

They ended up selling the apt and splitting the proceeds. They could have done that at the very beginning and saved a lot of money and aggravation.

  10. Call me a hypocrite. I feel that any man that sues for palimony is less than a man. If there are extenuating circumstances preventing him from working or making him the primary caretaker of the child that’s one thing but if he is fully capable of supporting himself then that’s when he needs to do. I also feel the same way about women that are married to these athletes. It’s one thing to get money to live a certain way and take care of the children because were typically the primary caretakers. It’s something altogether different to think we deserve half.

  11. It’s all just messy and if I had had her ‘terrible’ upbringing I wouldn’t care how much money I had to throw at it or whose arse I had to lick, I would just want my kids to be happy. And in fact that is what I did. Yes I could have kicked off and said he’s a shitbag but I knew my kids had brains and would one day figure that out for themselves without my help. I had a very functional divorce… but yes I know I’m lucky and it can’t always be that way but she was in a position to pay for it to go away if she had wanted too. I don’t think his parents are the devil incarnate either, they are grandparents who have lost a child, Bryn’s namesake and I think they acted out of fear of losing her. I know I would have.

P.s. It is SO refreshing to be able to have a difference of opinion! 😘😘😘

    • You have some good points and that’s the whole thing. We really have no idea what he wanted in the divorce, what she offered and who made out with what.

The point is is that the divorce is final. The end. He really has no reason to be sending her harassing emails everyday, etc. It’s done. Get over it!

Now, the interesting thing is that they will probably both be leaking stuff to page 6 to make the other side look bad. There is already one blip about how horrible he is and another one (pro Jason) where a cop calls her a C list celebrity and women do this all the time and make a big deal about nothing.

      Poor Bryn.

      • Both of them need to grow the fuck up and realize that using their child as a weapon is the worst form of child abuse. Amazing how they loved each other enough to marry and have a baby and both claim to love that child more than anything else in the world. They are both disgusting fame whores.
My parents divorced, and while I am sure it was ugly and painful for them both, they never once said a word against each other to my brother or me.

  12. Well, the thought of Jason Hoppy going into a Boardroom full of Beam’s Lawyer’s, Accountant’s, Ad-Exec’s, and other top brass, swinging his backpack up onto the conference table to negotiate a 100 Million plus deal is an image that is pretty funny. I find it hard to believe that a Pharma Salesman was instrumental in closing that deal. Bethenny is smart, she didn’t leave it up to Jason to take care of the sale. She had her own team of Lawyers and money people on the other side of the table. I see so many people take up for him and say that he’s the one who handled that deal. Come on, do folks really believe that?
He had no hand in developing Skinnygirl, he didn’t support her from the very beginning. He didn’t work his ass off paying bills while she was trying to get her business off the ground. For him, or anyone else for that matter to think he’s somehow entitled to half of what she worked for is insane. He needs to get a job and take care of himself. His lawyer made a statement to the court that he can’t find employment due to his high-profile divorce. Bitch, please.
He agreed to no spousal support, and he knew that he would have to leave the apartment if anything happened between them. He signed papers stating as such, so B thought. He changed things and had his mom notarize them so he wouldn’t get caught. Standing up to him and enforcing the original agreement doesn’t make B the evil bitch. He used custody of Bryn as his bargaining chip, that didn’t work out for him – he didn’t get full custody despite going to neighbor’s and asking them to testify that she was a horrible mother.
If B ever said “mine” – he was quick to correct her and jump in with “OURS”. That is such an innocent thing to say when you’re talking to someone, “Oh, we can do it at my house” without a partner jumping in and sternly saying, “OUR house”. He seems really controlling and insecure. Why he can’t just let go and have some self respect is baffling, it’s been years.
Back in my early 20’s, I had an experience that makes this situation hit home – so yeah I have strong feelings about his emotional abuse. Let me tell you, the emotional head fuckery really takes a toll on you.

  13. I was with an alcoholic for many years, I am well acquainted with head fuckery. Am just saying if I was in a position financially to make it go away I would have and although financially I wasn’t , I still did so against advice of family and lawyers. The result? Well adjusted kids and 4 years less of head fuckery (and the rest) that I would have had if I had fought it through the courts and dragged it out until it got as hateful as this.

Yes I lost out in monetary terms but right then, that was the least important thing. I won’t lie, we suffered in terms of going from having it all to having nothing but we all learned to have things we needed rather than wanted and yes it was hard but I could sleep at night and my kids didn’t go through a nasty split and have their own head fuckery.

How many of us say I would do anything for my kids? They are the most important thing and I want them to be happy , put them first always; I would die for them or kill for them? Notarise a document for them.

Am sure these 2 have said this yet they have failed her spectacularly and all because of bloody money.

    • I read someplace that B begged him to quit his job and help her. It was supposedly taped and on the show. I also read the episode where they were lost on a boat was done for the show to add drama. If that’s true, all of it was scripted. I can see her later using that against him. He helped her build her business. I think it was on her Ever After show. I’ll try to find it.

  14. I think they are both immature, but Bethenny raising a girl is not something that makes me feel comfortable. She has a brand called Skinnygirl, not Healthygirl, or Happygirl. That alone is going to be an issue for Brynn. On top of that she spent the last season shaming a woman for having an eating disorder and talking about her ethnicity. Jason sounds completely out of line, and people did make good points above about his financial manipulation, but I still think Brynn might be better off with him. Brynn would be best off with parents that were nice to each other and others though.

  15. B is an easy target because she went from underdog to super bitch with major ego in a very short time. She is the only reason I started watching anything on Bravo so I have a soft spot for her. With that said each year she gets harder to watch and even harder to have any sympathy for except for this. Even if the incident was exaggerated as I’m sure I’m not alone in suspecting, I know first hand how nasty a divorce can get and mine was after 20 years not 2. Ladies – I know I’m not alone in this. Mine is just super recent as in the ink isn’t even dry on those papers yet. Jason was asked to stop, refused and even took it to a whole new level by starting any negative conversation at the school. He wouldn’t have been charged if there wasn’t some merit to the complaint. B isn’t that powerful except in her own mind. I don’t know how much of her stories about parents, boyfriends, or husbands are true but what is indisputable is she worked her ass off to get where she is and I commend her for that. And as for Jason, I’m sure he made out decently enough in the divorce after a mere 2 years so there is no plausible excuse for that behavior. His child not his ex wife should be #1. I mostly just feel bad for Brynn and Jason’s parents. They seemed like loving people but again why I identify with B is coming from a loveless family – I get why she didn’t understand his close knit upbringing. Love her or hate her – he’s in the wrong if he is engaging in what seems like juvenile behavior. Forget what they say about hell hath no fury like a woman scorned … men can be just as bad.

  16. Does anyone know their divorce settlement? I am curious what and how much he got.
I see it this way and I am going to be full-on honest… I think Bethenny desperately wanted a child and that is why she chose Jason. She lost patience with waiting for “the one” and so she chose him because he was there. I never got a feeling of particular closeness from them- they never seemed to have any real chemistry.
I always felt a little bit sorry for Jason. It’s like he was a little, tiny mouse up against a very large cat.
Don’t get me wrong. There are things that I do enjoy about Bethenny- her wit being the biggest. However, I think she used Jason at a time in her life when she thought nothing else would come along. And now he is losing it, because he feels used and played.
    Just my two cents.

  17. In the beginning I cheered for Bethenney because I thought she was a bit of a tortured soul and an underdog. (Plus KELLY & Scary Island!). I never watched her spin-off shows but I did enjoy her wit. There is probably no other housewife that is as smart as she is. I don’t like her products but I do know my health-conscious friends do when they allow themselves to drink. I have liked her less and less with each passing year as her ego has grown.

They both need to move on. If Jason would find himself a new woman, he would be less focused on the old one. He won’t find a new one if he’s in jail or court.

I guess I’m cheering for them both with a strong leaning towards Bethenney’s side. But the only one that is a complete victim is Brynn.
